The 1st GO FITONET Webinar was successfully held
On October 24, the "I WEBINAR GO FITONET: The social network of plant genetic resources" took place, which had more than 85 professionals from the sector connected. The FitoNet Operational Group was born in 2022 in the context of the Call for the Execution of Projects of General Interest by Operational Groups of the European Association for Innovation in agricultural productivity and sustainability.
The project consists of the creation of Living Labs and pilot projects, as well as the development of a web and mobile application (FitoNet). The application will be a tool for exchanging information, knowledge and resources related to plant biology applied to agriculture, and will allow collaboration between researchers, farmers, producers and companies. The final objective is to improve the supply of varieties available to users, promote sustainable and environmentally friendly practices, and support society's growing demand for differentiated plant products of higher nutritional and organoleptic quality.
This webinar allowed us to present the objectives and activities of the FITONET Operational Group, as well as the progress that is being developed in the project. The progress in the four pilot activities of the project was presented; showing the existing interaction between the research groups and the companies in the sector that are members of the project during the development of each activity, the current situation and the development of the future FitoNet application and the perception and benefits that the project represents for farmers, and in consequently, society.
