VII Congress of Plant Genetic Improvement (CMGP)

September 16, 17 and 18, 2014. Zaragoza

The Plant Genetic Improvement Congresses are events that aim to offer a framework for meeting and exchanging ideas in the field of genetics, biotechnology and plant genetic improvement. This edition of the Congress raises as a topic of interest the obtaining varieties from classical improvement to the application of new technological tools. This goal is based on the primary reason for any genetic improvement program: obtaining new varieties that solve the problems that current varieties may present in their cultivation, marketing, transformation, etc. and the current importance that the application of new molecular techniques has in them.

The congress is organized by the Plant Genetic Improvement Sections of the Spanish Society of Horticultural Sciences (SECH), the Spanish Genetics Society (SEG) and the Agri-Food Research and Technology Center of Aragon. The congress will be held in the IAMZ (Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza-CIHEAM) located on the AULA DEI Campus, at Avenida de Montañana 1005, 50059 Zaragoza.

He scientific program It will cover news, innovations and information in relation to current trends in plant genetic improvement and will be organized based on thematic sessions
