What is an Operational Group?

An Operational Group (OG) is a group of actors with different profiles, such as farmers, researchers, universities, etc. to be able to jointly address a specific problem or opportunity from a multi-sector approach.

HEMP STANDARDIZATION Operational Group

He Operational Group Normalization of Industrial Hemp in Spain, Cultivation and Processing It has been formed to prepare a functional guide as a tool for the cultivation and processing of industrial hemp in Spain. The existing regulations are practically unknown and do not contemplate the use of leaves or flowers.

Specific objectives

  • The production of fiber and seeds does not present any more problems than the absence of transformation centers that make possible the profitability of the crop and therefore, the expansion of the crop area. On the other hand, regulations are necessary for the production of food supplements or “novel foods” that include cannabinoids in their formulations, since it is a de facto reality in the global market. Products based on cannabinoids that cannot be classified as food supplements will be classified as pharmaceuticals.
  • The regulations cited previously (ROYAL DECREE 1729/1999, of November 12) are obsolete, incomplete and difficult to comply with. As main goal From this project The aim is to unify criteria between administrations, sector actors and the general population, a necessary process to create a sustainable hemp industry.
