BIOVEGEN contributes to the design of the Spanish Bioeconomy Strategy.
The Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, through the State Secretary for R&D&I and in collaboration with different entities, is developing the “Spanish Bioeconomy Strategy HORIZONTE 3030”. This is a commitment by the Administration to the bioeconomy, understood as the set of activities that obtain products and services and that generate economic value using resources of biological origin as raw materials. This Strategy will focus on the activity of the agricultural, fishing, aquaculture, food and forestry sectors, on the efficient and sustainable use of the products, by-products and waste they generate, as well as the products obtained from algae and microorganism cultures and others. bioprocesses.
The objective of this strategy is to improve the competitive position of these sectors through advances in biotechnology. In addition, it seeks to promote the comprehensive use of biological resources. With all this, the aim is to promote economic activity, and improve the competitiveness and sustainability, of the productive sectors that are linked to the use of biologically based resources, promoting the development and application of technologies generated through collaboration between the science and technology and business. This strategy seeks to reach 2030 with innovative, competitive and efficient companies, with a more diversified and environmentally sustainable economy.
This Strategy is framed within the Administration's commitment to the Bioeconomy, and the set of technologies and innovations associated with Biology, as a fundamental and strategic driver of economic growth in Spain, and in particular the competitive improvement of the agri-food sectors. and forestry.
Thus, in recent months we have worked with the objective of designing and developing the Spanish Bioeconomy Strategy. BIOVEGEN, as a relevant entity in the agricultural and biotechnology sector, has been invited to participate in the design and development of this Strategy, for which it has participated in meetings and prepared input documents that include the needs of the sector and the vision of BIOVEGEN. to enhance the competitive development of the agri-food sector through the incorporation of new technologies.
