BIOVEGEN celebrates the session “Collaboration opportunities with companies”

On June 15, the BIOVEGEN Session “Opportunities for collaboration with companies” was held within the framework of the 2015 Plant Physiology Congress in Toledo. The objectives of this session were:

• Show cases of companies in the agricultural and forestry sector interested in collaborating with the scientific community to develop R&D&I activities
• Promote interaction between companies and attending scientists, facilitating the detection of possibilities for Science-Business collaboration (joint technological interests)
• Promote public-private collaboration in the agricultural and forestry field

During the meeting, the different speakers explained the characteristics of their companies, their activity and their determined commitment to R&D&i in the agricultural and forestry field as an unavoidable strategy for growth and competitive improvement. Thus, the companies showed the attendees their experiences of interaction between the business sector and the scientific world and the possibilities they offer for collaboration.

At the end of the Session, a colloquium took place in which different difficulties were raised for the establishment of Science-Business collaborations, such as the difficulty of accessing financing, the lack of financing mechanisms adapted to the characteristics of the agricultural sector and the difficulty to identify the technological offer of researchers and the demand and needs of companies.
