TECHNOLOGICAL SUPPLY/DEMAND:

PLANT GENETICS PROGRAM

It studies the inheritance of traits using phenotyping techniques, conventional and assisted by image analysis, and massive genotyping for the identification of genes of interest in genetic improvement. It contributes to the preservation and characterization of agrobiodiversity, particularly in species of local interest. It uses the common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) as a model species to apply the knowledge to other species.

PLANT PATHOLOGY PROGRAM

It is responsible for the study of the pathogens of greatest interest in regional crops, using microbiology and molecular biology techniques, to establish the etiology of little-known diseases, the characterization of pathogens and epidemiological studies.

FRUIT GROWING PROGRAM

Conduct research aimed at improving fruit production. In the case of the apple tree, efforts are directed towards finding solutions to the limiting factors to achieve sustainable and efficient production of apples, especially cider apples, addressing the prospecting, conservation, characterization, evaluation and improvement of plant material. local and optimization of the production system. In addition, work is being done on the prospecting and evaluation of local plant materials from other fruit species, with the aim of enabling fruit production diversification in the region.

FOREST RESEARCH PROGRAM

Promotion of sustainable management of forests, stimulating the protection of the territory and increasing carbon fixation in forest biomass and contributing to alleviating the causes of climate change, in addition to achieving an improvement in agro-forestry production, as a driving force economic and rural development, especially in marginal and mountain areas.
