- DESCRIPTION: The CBGP is a joint initiative between the Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM) and the National Institute of Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA). It is created with the double purpose of:
- Contribute to the sustainable development of the agricultural, forestry and environmental sectors through the Knowledge-Based Bio-Economy (KBBE).
- Increase the competitiveness of research and production in these areas.
- PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONS:
- Generation of knowledge in genomics and biotechnology of plants and the organisms that interact with them.
- Development of new technologies and functional analysis instruments.
- Development of new products and processes of interest to the productive sectors.
- Transmission of information and development of educational programs for scientists and technicians.
- Educational role for training Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate students and R&D&I technicians and scientists.
- FACILITIES: scientific-technological services offered to companies and other entities (see services)
- STAFF: 182 researchers/technicians (43 professors/staff researchers (UPM/INIA), 8 Talent Acquisition Program researchers, 52 postdoctoral fellows, 51 PhD students, 28 laboratory technicians), and 14 administration people (8)/scientific services /technological (6).
- BUDGET: 25% of the annual R&D&i budget of the CBGP (UPM-INIA) comes from collaborations with companies or private entities.
- PROJECTS: 40 active projects financed by the National Plan, H2020, Community of Madrid, Companies, Foundations, etc.
