The OEPM and BIOVEGEN sign a collaboration agreement on Industrial Property
The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office OA (OEPM) and the Technological Platform for Plant Biotechnology – BIOVEGEN have recently signed an agreement to establish a cooperation framework in order to facilitate, promote and stimulate the knowledge and use of Property rights Industrial (PI) within the Technology Platform. This collaboration will make it possible to boost the competitiveness of the Spanish industry in the field of innovation and its protection in the field of plant production and agrobiotechnology. The Agreement will allow the establishment of a two-way channel of institutional communication between the SPTO and BIOVEGEN that contributes to achieving the aforementioned purposes.
The OEPM, among other actions, undertakes in this agreement to provide technical support to the training of BIOVEGEN professionals in IP matters, holding conferences that allow them to learn about the different modalities of protection, Technological Information services and the mechanisms protection of R&D results. It will also support the documentation search processes, patentability studies, patent applications and will provide a direct information service with those responsible for the IP. The Technological Patent Reports and Technological Surveillance Reports requested by BIOVEGEN They will have a discount on 30%.

Both entities will continue to cooperate in the preparation and dissemination of monographs, studies, Technology Surveillance Bulletins and reports on specific topics considered of interest to Spanish companies, foundations and associations.
The agreement was recently published in BOE No. 40 of February 16, 2021 and will have a duration of four years, extendable to another four, subject to unanimous agreement of the parties.
