The webinar “Seaweed biostimulants for increasing crop productivity” held
On June 20, the second webinar organized by BIOVEGEN, In collaboration with CAJAMAR and the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Plants (IBMCP-UPV-CSIC). Under the title "Seaweed biostimulants to increase productivity in crops», the event presented a successful case of collaboration between the IBMCP and the company PLYMAG to develop a biostimulant product based on seaweed extracts.
During the session, issues related to the process of selection of plant material, the biostimulant manufacturing and the quantification of the metabolites contained in this, beyond those required in current regulations, in order to guarantee the good positioning of this product both in the field and later in the market. Precisely, to achieve the latter, the speakers stressed the importance of carrying out a multidisciplinary approach, using physiological studies to understand the mechanism of action of the biostimulant through the quantification and identification of its metabolomic composition. With all this, the webinar concluded with a debate forum, which aroused the interest of the more than 350 registered.
