BIOVEGEN participates in “Missions in Horizon Europe: design and impact by and for Spanish society”

BIOVEGEN participated in the event “Missions in Horizon Europe: design and impact by and for Spanish society” which was organized by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and which took place within the framework of the COP25 held at IFEMA-Madrid.

The objective of the meeting was to inform about the next European Framework Program for Science and Technology, Horizon Europe, and to debate a new part of it: Missions. The day was planned as an exercise to debate and contribute to the design and content of the five areas defined in the Missions:

  1. Adaptation to climate change, including social transformation.
  2. Climate neutral and smart cities.
  3. Soil health and nutrition.
  4. Healthy oceans, seas, coastal and inland waters.
  5. Cancer.

To this end, the event featured two debates, one dedicated to the current state of defining the strategic area and priority objectives for each Mission and another on the common cross-cutting themes of interest in the design and structure of the Missions. Both had the participation of experts from the Mission Boards.

Finally, interactive work sessions were held for each of the Missions in which agents from each sector, including BIOVEGEN, spoke with experts from the Mission Boards, the Spanish representatives in the Strategic Committee of Horizon Europe for Missions and representatives of the Commission in the scope of each Mission.

The objective of these meetings was to identify the interests of the attendees regarding the specific objectives or Missions, the areas of action or the actions/instruments that must be defined in Horizon Europe, the innovations that must be considered and the mechanisms necessary for synergies in this Mission.

Furthermore, the European Commission has promoted a survey on the Mission 3 “Soil health and food” in order to know the perception that society has on this topic/Mission to use the responses in the design, development and implementation of the Mission. You can access the survey at the following link.
