GO SIMBIOLIVA

What is an Operational Group?
An Operational Group (OG) is a group of actors with different profiles, such as farmers, researchers, universities, etc. to be able to jointly address a specific problem or opportunity from a multi-sector approach.
SIMBIOLIVA Operational Group
The project aims to develop biotechnological solutions to promote a circular economy for olive groves associated with alperujo that allows the soil to be protected from degradation and increases the resilience of crops. SIMBIOLIVA proposes a strategy based on physicochemical processes (centrifugation in three phases and increasing the temperature in the thermobeating) that allows reducing the presence of polyphenols by solubilizing them, together with biological treatments that apply a load of specific microorganisms that ends up degrading the polyphenols of the alperujo, thereby reducing treatment times. All this is aimed at obtaining a system that gives rise to a nature-based solution that has a direct and positive impact on the olive and agricultural sector.
Goals
- Assessment of polyphenols in alperujo (reducing their toxicity) through physical extraction methods with low energy consumption.
- Reduction of polyphenol compounds in alperujo and increase of nutritional properties for plants through biological treatment.
- Improving the resilience and nutrition of crops and plant species through biological methods, biofertilizers (reduction of synthetic fertilizers).
- Synergistic integration in a symbiotic – integration of processed alperujo with biofertilizers (optimization of process energy, improvement of soil health and agricultural and forestry crops).
Components – Scope of action
The SIMBIOLIVA Operational Group is made up of 7 entities who participate to achieve the objectives of this project that has a presence in 3 Autonomous Communities:
