BIOVEGEN meets with EFKO-GROUP

BIOVEGEN met last Monday with representatives of ICEX and EFKO-GROUP in an online meeting that was aimed at presenting the activities of the Platform to this Russian business group. The EFKO GROUP company is one of the largest food groups in Russia, a leader in segments such as mayonnaise, oil, yogurts and sauces. Through its EFKO INNOVATIONS center it aims to implement new technologies and product development. Last February we informed you that EFKO-GROUP was looking for technologies of interest internationally in relation to the following topics:

• TOPIC 1: Fermentation of oil seed meal (cake)
• TOPIC 2: Recombinant proteins manufacturing
• TOPIC 3: Low-calorie fat substitutes
• TOPIC 4: Methods for producing unsaturated fatty acids
• TOPIC 5: On-farm inputs for animal ag
• TOPIC 6: Alternative meat
• TOPIC 7: Sweeteners and Healthy food ingredients
• TOPIC 8: Cold pressed oil as the source of plant-based nutrient
• TOPIC 9: IT-technologies in food industry

In this context, on April 16, ICEX was going to organize a DEMO DAY in Madrid. The activity was aimed at technology companies, startups, innovation hubs, Universities, technology centers, etc. from the FoodTech industry who want to start a collaboration with
EFKO GROUP:

• To develop a prototype, carry out pilot tests in the EFKO environment, or carry out joint developments.
• In the case of the startups, receive an investment from the EFKO corporate fund

However, as a result of the health crisis caused by COVID-19, the event could not be held in person and, instead, bilateral meetings were held. on-line to evaluate these potential collaborations.
