BIOVEGEN contributes to the Education Action Plan for the plant sector
Within our collaboration with the European Technology Platform “Plants for the Future” (Plant ETP), we are contributing to the development of an Education Action Plan for the Plant Sector. This Plan will be transmitted at the European level (financing organizations, Ministries, etc.) to inform and advise on future needs in the training of Human Resources in the plant sector, both at an academic and professional level, as well as the financing that will be required. The aim is to contribute to greater closeness and collaboration between research and business.
In the development of this Plan, three types of surveys are being carried out to obtain information on the future needs of Human Resources in Academia and in the private sector (farmers and agri-food companies):
- Survey aimed at Researchers, to find out the gaps that exist in training and research, as well as the potential activities that could be carried out to bring the new generation of plant scientists closer to the needs of the agri-food industrial sector.
- Survey aimed at Farmers, to analyze how awareness can be increased about the importance of incorporating new technologies at the field level, which improve the competitiveness of this sector.
- Survey aimed at the Industrial Sector, on the potential shortcomings of future workers in the agricultural sector related to the most advanced technologies in plant science.
With the data obtained, the Education Action Plan will be prepared.
