ITENE carries 30 years offering customized solutions for all the companies that make up the value chain of the 4 major areas in which they work: materials and technologies for the circular economy, security, design and functionality of Containers and packaging, security and technologies environmental monitoring and transportation, mobility and digital transformation.

Specifically, ITENE has the experience and adequate facilities to develop biotechnological solutions focused on the valorization of organic by-products and packaging waste. The high added value products obtained have application in different industrial sectors, among which stand out: packaging, cosmetics, detergents, agriculture, nutra and food. 

In addition, they define and develop biotechnological processes to obtain high added value products using biotechnologies that are as sustainable as possible and technically and economically viable. These processes are developed on a laboratory scale, and can be scaled up in their facilities to pilot plant volumes, which allows them to have a closer view of the industrialization of the process through technical and economic analysis of the same.

ITENE offers technologies within the 4 blocks described, and in particular, in the field of biotechnologies, sustainable technologies and circular economy, ITENE offers the following advanced technological services:  

  • Obtaining second-generation macronutrients (sugars, amino acids and fatty acids) (TRL6).
  • Obtaining microorganisms and extracts with biostimulant activity (TRL6).
  • Obtaining microorganisms with probiotic activity and postbiotic extracts (TRL5). 
  • Adaptive evolution of microbial strains to make biotechnological processes more sustainable and technically and economically viable (TRL4).
  • Obtaining biopolymer precursors/cosmetic ingredients.
  • Bacterial cellulose (TRL 5).
  • Organic acids (lactic and succinic) (TRL6) and hyaluronic acid (TRL4).
  • PHAs (TRL5).
  • Oligokeratins (TRL6).
  • Obtaining active compounds from raw materials and organic by-products: antioxidants (TRL5), antimicrobials (TRL4) or prebiotics (TRL4). 
  • Development and heterologous expression of industrially relevant enzymes (TRL5). 
  • Development of enzymatic hydrolysis processes for PET and multilayer materials containing PET (recovery of polyolefin fraction) (TRL6).
