MICROCLIMATT Webinar: Microalgae for productive and sustainable agriculture

March 31, 2022. Virtual format

The MICROCLIMATT Operational Group was born in 2020 in the context of the Call for the Execution of Projects of General Interest by Operational Groups of the European Innovation Association in terms of agricultural productivity and sustainability. GO MICROCLIMATT aims to test the effectiveness of microalgae biostimulants, through demonstrative trials (phenotypic, physiological and transcriptomic), in the fight against the effects of climate change on wheat and tomatoes. This objective will be achieved through:

  • The demonstration of the increase in carbon fixation in soils and plant biomass of crops treated with the proposed biostimulant solutions, associated with the increase in crop productivity, and the verification of the improvement in soil quality.
  • The analysis of the mechanisms that induce an improvement in the resistance of treated crops to situations of water stress (lower availability of water), thanks to the use of biostimulant solutions.
  • The determination of the validity of the proposed solutions in order to reduce the use of chemical fertilizers, which degrade, erode and contaminate soils and aquifers.

In this context, the first MICROCLIMATT Webinar: Microalgae for productive and sustainable agriculture will be held on March 31, 2022, which will be dedicated to presenting the objectives and activities of this innovative project.
